Guna district is well
connected with M.P. & other parts of India by Road, Rail and Air routes.
Guna is situated on
the Nation Highway No. 3 namely Agra - Bombay National Highway. The most
important places of Districts situated on it are Palai, Guna, Ruthai, Aron,
& Binaganj. The state Highways is all weather roads in the district,
which connect important towns. The total length of state highways in the
District is about 248.30 Km. The State highway No. 10 i.e. Ranchi (Bihar) to Deharda (M.P.), No. 19 Jaitpur (U.P.) to Susner (Maharashtra) and State Highways No. 23, sabalgarh (M.P.) to Nagpur (Maharashtra) pass through the District. Guna is situated on the Western Railway 's broad gauge line of the Kota-Bina Section. Another rail link, viz., Guna-Maksi connects it to Indore and Ujjain. The total rail length in the district is about 141 Km and the route kilometrege per 100 square KM is 1.27. Recently Guna-Gwalior section is opened for the railway traffic. The history of postal
communication in Guna district is, as in most other districts a process of
Gradual evolution for rudimentary system of Courier employed by kings and
Emperor to keep in touch with their far territories into the present immense
net work and organization. The benefit of a regular postal system became
available to the area only after independence with development &
expansion of postal services. A decision was taken to have a post office for a group having population of 2000 and located within a distance of 3.22 Km. The following table shows the growth of post office in the district. Number

Telegraph The District is now served with wide spread system of Telegraph Office. In 1903 there was only one combined post & Telegraph office in this district. After Independence the policy of expanding telegraph facility particularly in the policy of expanding telegraph facility particularly in the rural and semi urban area has been vigourously persuaded by the department. During the second five-year plan the programme of extension of telephone facilities to rural area with a population of more than 5000 was taken up. Thus in 1960-61 there were 3 telegraph offices which increased to 8 in 1965-66, 12 in 1971-72 and 14 in 1974-75.
